finished second, and i want to tell you something, i'm just honored, i'm really honored." florida senator marco rubio made a strong showing in third place... giving his campaign a shot of momentum. (marco rubio) "if i am our nominee, and i will our nominee, thanks to what you have done here in this great state. " meanwhile on the democratic side, the vote came in much like the previous polls... a dead heat. until the early morning hours, the race between hillary clinton and bernie sanders was just too close to call. (hillary clinton) "as i stand here breathing a huge sigh of relief, thank you iowa!" (bernie sanders) "what iowa has begun tonight is a political revolution. [applause]" but it's the end of the road for at least two candidates. democrat martin o'malley is calling it quits after getting just one- percent of the vote. on the republican side, mike huckabee bowed out with humor. when one driver crossed over the center median and slammed into another car head on. the man driving the lexus died after his ca rolled over. the woman inside the buick died at u-m-c. another vehicle was involved in the crash. both of the people inside that vehicle are expected to be okay. troopers haven't said if alcohol or speed played a factor. road rage can turn into a dangerous and sometimes even a deadly situation. a local biker out for a joy ride with his buddies... finds himself staring down the barrel of a gun after getting into a fight with a group of men over the weekend. this video is all over facebook this morning... it's broad daylight on boulder highway... when a man pulls out a gun and threatens to shoot him. fox five's elizabeth watts spoke with the victim.

year-old warren mcclinton -- after he plead the equivalent of "no contest" to second-degree kidnapping. mcclinton missed his sentencing last week. the judge says he could face five to fifteen years in prison if he violates probation. a north las vegas man accused of kidnapping an arizona teen and holding her captive for nearly a month is now facing 83 charges. three new victims have come forward claiming they were assaulted by jimmy kim. police say the 26- year-old kidnapped the arizona teen and sexually assaulted her numerous times while he held her at his north las vegas home. the teenager was able to escape in december. kim is being held on one-and-a-half million dollars bail. two north las vegas police officers are in a contest to win bullet-proof vests for their k-9 partners. a non-profit group called "keeping k-9's in kevlar' is giving away five vests for the dogs who serve alongside

year-old "bobby" manteufel. the two have been for seven years and as you can lot of personality! three-year-old "boris" is the department's newest rookie! he just completed his training, and is now working with officer adam rosenthal. we have information on for these two on the links page of our website, fox5 vegas dot com. the clark county commission will discuss the pet shop ordinance at today's meeting. last month, the city of las vegas passed an ordinance banning the sale of puppy mill animals at valley pet shops. now they want the ordinance passed on the county level. under the city's retail ban, valley pet shops will have two years to make the transition. going forward, they will only be able to sell cats, dogs and pot bellied pigs from rescue groups. the ordinance is designed to find more homes for rescue animals and help clear out crowded animal

"guy throws himself onto grocery store display." "squad, put em in a coffin!" a 13-year-old henderson boy was arrested last week for doing the coffin challenge on the hood of someone's truck. the truck was damaged, and police believe at least two other people may have been involved. the teen is also accused of vandalizing the neighborhood by knocking over trash cans and throwing fruit at

an update to a story we brought you yesterday. a retired police officer in ohio will get to keep his k-9 partner. matthew hickey retired after 30 years force of service, he wanted to take his bestfreind ajax with him. under ohio law ajax was considered city property and had to be sold at auction. more than 60- thousand dollars was raised on go- fund-me. but in the end it didn't matter, hickey was appointed as an auxiliary officer, allowing him to keep ajax. the money raised will go to charities and organizations for police dogs. it's a shopping event 99 years in the making. a woman from california wins it

an update now on metro's second officer involved shooting of the year. metro released some radio traffic from the january 26th shooting during a press conference yesterday. police say the suspect may have tried to car-jack the off-duty police officer who shot him. "he's gonna be on your left, he's coming at ya. shots fired! suspect down, shots fired." the shooting happened near pecos and bonanza. metro says 35- year-old "gilberto guitierrez stole a honda civic at gunpoint, and lost control of it. he jumped some walls and hid in a neighborhood while police looked for him. off-duty officer samuel solorio was on his way home from work and spotted him. he feared guitierrez was going to car-jack him, and shot him. metro says guitierrez has been on their radar since 2004, and has a history of stealing cars. guitierrez has a court da scheduled for thursday. in national news... a judge will hear arguments in bill cosby's criminal

cosby's lawyers will argue that the actor was assured that he wouldn't be charged with sexual assault in a case dating back to 2004. the complaint was filed by former temple university employee andrea constand. during a deposition in 2005 cosby says he was promised he wouldn't be charged in the case, which was eventually settled. the former da is expected to testify at today's hearing. the walmart truck driver accused of crashing his big rig into tracy morgan's limo van on the new jersey turnpike pleads not guilty to criminal charges. kevin roper is charged with aggravated manslaughter, vehicular homicide and aggravated assault for the 20-14 crash that killed comedian james mcnair and seriously hurt morgan. roper's attorney is trying to get the charges tossed, saying wal-mart's settlement with morgan and publicity from the accident has harmed roper's

trial. four protesters are refusing to leave the wildlife refuge in oregon. a memorial now stands along a highway there to honor rancher lavoy finicum. the memorial was set up in the spot where finicum was killed last week. back at the malheur national wildlife refuge... the occupiers say they will only leave if they aren't arrested or prosecuted. nevada rancher cliven bundy sent this letter to the harney county sheriff's , oregon governor kate brown and president obama telling them protestors are coming back to the refuge. the letter asks that all federal and state authorities be removed. celine dion is headed back to las vegas, for a celebration of life ceremony to honor her husband rene angelil. angelil passed away a little more than two weeks ago... after losing a hard fought battle with cancer. the event will be held tomorrow at caesars palace.... t-m-z is reporting the singer will speak at the ceremony. a state funeral was held in

win. but it may not have been much of a shock after he skipped out on last week's debate in des moines. trump says: "we will go on to get the republican nomination and we will go on to easily beat hillary or bernie." (on-cam tag) now with fewer candidates... they move on to new hampshire... with the primary just a week away. in des moines, caroline shively, fox news uber drivers in new york are calling for a strike this morning. they are protesting a move by the company to slash fares. the drivers say the 15-percent cut will cause too much of a hit to their bottom line. several hundred drivers showed up at a protest at the ride-sharing app's new york headquarters yesterday. it's still unclear how many will participate in the shutdown. the fight doesn't end there, drivers in san francisco held their own protest yesterday. about 200 drivers took part in a "honk-in"... they traveled together over two counties -- with horns honking and hazard lights

" the w-h-o says there could be at least 3-million zika infections over the next year. cases have been confirmed in several states... as of now-- there have been no confirmed cases in southern nevada. the international olympic committee president says the zika virus will not affect the 20-16 rio games... proper measures are being taken. he says athletes and visitors should be safe to travel to brazil. august is one of brazil's winter months and the dry and cold climate will reduce the presence of mosquitoes. the olympics take place august fifth to the twenty first. in the coming days-- nhp is stepping up enforcement and cracking down on drunk drivers ahead of the super bowl. troopers ask, if you see an impaired driver on the road, call 9-1-1 right away.
