squad is powered by united nissan.. dollar loan center.. and helix electric you may have heard of little bailey stevens... each year her heard of little bailey stevens... each year her family hosts a rodeo event to give back to the hospital that saved her life 5 years ago. but what many don't know is bailey and her family are facing a new hurdle... causing heartache and stress once again. so the fox5 surprise squad traveled to pahrump to learn more from someone very close. music carla: my grandaughter, bailey, was born july 8th of 2010. when she was about 4 days old she developed an infection. they removed about 70% of her small intestine. and the doctor basically told my daughter and son in law that she wouldn't survive. that they
7:24 am
kiss her goodbye before they did the surgery. it was a long long night, but um, bailey survived. music carla: when they were still at the hospital, patrick told marla, "you need to have faith, and belive she's gonna be ok." that became the motto for the barrel race that they put on every year in september at the south point aquestrian center. all the proceeds that come from this event go to the spring valley hosptial nicu unit. and they've given them over $50,000 so far. we all live in pahrump, and so we have this way of life that we live with the horses. and its good for bailey, mentally and physically, but they're expensive to keep. patrick works out at the test sight, and my daughter is a police officer with metro. the medical bills are still coming, and they are going to continue to come, now with these new issues with bailey, they're gonna be big. but um, like i said, marla and patrick find
