public will get their first look at a memorial built in honor of the 19 granite mountain hotshots who died fighting the yarnell hill fire.. team 12's brandon hamilton joins us with a preview. we will never forget the horrific day, june 30, 2013 when 19 granite mountain hotshot firefighters were killed battling the yarnell hill fire.... and tomorrow, a long awaited memorial is set to open to the public to honor the fallen heroes..... there will be a dedication of the new granite mountain hotshots memorial state park this morning..... the park is located 2 miles south of yarnell on state route 89.... the hotshots trail is 2.85 miles long......along the way, every 600 feet, there will be granite plaques set into rocks that show a photo and story of each fallen hotshot. once you reach the obseration deck, you will be able to see the site 400 feet below where the brave men lost their lives as well as the town of yarnell.... there will also be a tribute wall available to leave mementos in honor of the fallen firefighters..... you can also hike down to the site where the men

stand to pay your respects.... in it's entirety, the entire hike is 7 miles roundtrip, so you are encouraged to dress appropriately and bring plenty of water for the at least 4 hour roundtrip hike.... the dedication ceremony is set for nine thirty this morning and will be streamed live on 12 news dot com.....

for the november 8th general election was the lowest in maricopa county since 2000. according to results canvassed monday, 1-point-6 million people cast a ballot in the county. recorder helen purcell says a little more than 74 percent of registered voters cast ballots in maricopa county.

checking hot headlines this morning... a suspect is dead and several students were injured following an attack on the campus of ohio state university. police say 18- year-old o-s-u student abdul razaq ali artan drove his car onto a sidewalk full of pedestrians on the columbus campus. they say he then stabbed several students with a butcher knife. ten people were taken to the hospital, but none of the injuries are considered life-threatening. artan was fatally shot by a campus police officer.

forced thousands to evacuate their homes. the tennessee mountain resort towns of gatlinburg and pigeon forge were under mandatory evacuation orders monday night. wind gusts up to 70 mph frustrated fire crews battling at least 14 fires burning close to the resort towns' hotels and popular tourist attractions. jury selection resumed in charleston, south carolina in the case against dylann roof... who is accused killing nine black churchgoers. roof has been found competent prosecutors plan a second death- penalty trial on nine counts of murder. this also comes on the same day a judge granted roof permission to act as his own attorney. a passenger on board a united airlines flight is in police custody after pulling open the emergency exit door and jumping out of the plane in houston, texas. the incident happened just as the plane arrived from new orleans monday afternoon. the plane, was waiting for the final taxi into its gate when the woman pulled open the overwing
