little caesars pizza in the west moana shopping center... and after revealing a gun, ran away with undisclosed amount of money. police are looking for a white man, wearing dark clothing, and a mask. police say no one was injured... and anyone with any information is asked to call the police department or secret witness. ### two brothers were arrested in carson city... accused of killing a man, early this morning. 19-year-old allen garcia-manriquez and 18-year old jesus garcia-manriquez were taken into custody around 8 o'clock this morning, at a home on east fifth street. roughly 10-thousand dollars cash... and other drug paraphernalia were found inside the home. the carson city sheriff's office - says the shooting happened at a public park just after 12-30 this morning. 18-year-old grant watkins, died of a gunshot wound to the stomach. investigators say they think he tried to sell 3- ounces marijuana to the brothers, when the meeting turned deadly. the case is under investigation. ### this man - 65-year old

stockton california was arrested in truckee - accused of trying to kill a woman. 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon california highway patrol officers noticed bullet holes in a car stopped on interstate 80. when officers talked with the couple inside ... they discovered riddle had fired a gun at the car - hitting the woman inside in the leg. she is expected to be ok. riddle faces charges-- including attempted homicide. ### mount rose ski patrollers... used their knowledge about avalanche rescue... to teach first responders today. "we've known for a long time that dogs are better than people and they get on a scent and it is basically a big game for them as far as finding a person." patrollers, generally-- only respond to avalanches inside the boundary of the ski resort. however, fire fighters and search and rescue crews respond to the back country. their first goal is to avoid triggering another avalanche. "the biggest evidence that we could have an avalanche is

point-4 billion dollars... that's a lot of revenue the state is not receiving. new at eleven.... kolo 8 news now's catherine van joins us in the studio, with what it would take to bring it here. cat? noah... lotteries have been banned in the nevada since 1864. with americans spending at more than 70 billion dollars a year on lotteries... nevada and those five other states are missing out. last year... the powerball gave nearly 150 million dollars for schools. while the lottery doesn't solve all of california's revenue problems... it does raise a question... why would we want to lose out on millions of dollars that would otherwise go to our schools? nats of ticket printing since nevada's statehood... lawmakers have tried to bring the lottery here... but with no luck. the closest they've gotten was in 2009 when a measure passed the assembly... but not the state senate. in 2011... the measure didn't even get a hearing. and no measure was introduced in the last two legislative sessions. one of the biggest

according to the gaming control board, nevada's casino industry lost $662 million last year. bringing a lottery system to the state would entail some competition. virginia: that would take away from the gaming industry's ability to do what it does best, which is to create new jobs and generate new revenue for the states, so it would come at the expense of something else. in california... 40 percent of each ticket sale goes toward education. 50 percent goes toward the actual jackpot and 10 percent for administrative and processing fees. last year... governor sandoval signed a 1.1 billion dollar tax plan to generate millions of dollars for education... an initiative that the nevada resorts association says... is enough. virginia: it will provide longtime broad-based solution to our tax structure and we think that is a better tax structure than a lottery. that tax plan should be given an opportunity to be formed before the state should look for more revenue. it would take two consecutive votes of passage in the

would go to the voters so it would take some time before the lottery actually generates any revenue. since november 17--- california has already raised about 200 million dollars in powerball sales. the next drawing is this wednesday at 8-p-m pacific time. noah? ohio governor john kasich is making a campaign stop in reno tomorrow. he'll be at the washoe county g-o-p headquarters. the event starts at one-45. tickets are not required... but you're strongly encouraged to r-s-v-p. we've set up a link at kolo-tv-dot-com. ### jeb bush is headed to elko on the 26th of this month. he'll be at north- eastern nevada museum. the event is open to the public, but you are asked to r-s-v-p in advance. once again... you'll find a link to that at kolo- tv-dot-com. ### a broken water pipe has kept pine middle school students from returning to class. now, aging floor tiles and sections of wall,

since the older building has asbestos floor tiles - the project must be handled with care. that means students the chief facilities manager says, this is what happens when unexpected damage, pushes an aging school to the top of the repair list. the sheer size of this thing, we are working through a couple of shifts on this with different crews, and the amount of abatement that needs to go through just to build it back it part that is a lot of your problem. he says repair and upkeep of existing buildings will only get more difficult. the last of the 2002 bond money will be spent this summer among five elementary schools and other projects in the district. ### . earlier today - a judge granted a preliminary injunction to temporarily stop the implementation of the state's new education savings account. the program would allow parents to claim more than 5-thousand dollars per student, to use for qualified in- state education expenses-- like private school tuition.
