positive outcome. >> jahi mcmath went in for to answer -- tonsillectomy this month. doctors said there were complications and declared her brain dead. her family believes jahi is still alive and will get a second opinion next week. cornell bernard is live in oakland where the family has join a community prayer. reporter: the family of jahi mcmath heads back to court tomorrow as their fight to keep her on life support continues. local faith leaders are sending formal letters to the d.a. and the hospital demanding action. >> we're saying that when you are wrong, you're wrong. >> that message is being sent by local faith leaders to children's hospital. the group of pastors is standing behind the family of jahi mcmath who is still on life support. the group is demanding the alameda county d.a. investigate the case. they also want hospital

officials to treat the family with more respect. >> it is important that this hospital understand how insensitive they have been toward this family, a family who is struggling with a potential devastating situation, and is getting what really amounts to very little sympathy. >> you don'ted in a judge to tell you, you're wrong you need to do the right thing, and give this family an opportunity to explore every possibility of remedy. >> on friday, jahi's family was granted a temporary restaining order to keep her on life support until an independent neurologist can examine her to determine if her brain is showing signs of activity. the hospital declared her brain dead after complications arose following a routine tons -- tonsillectomy two weeks ago. >> i pray to god every day and tell him, have your way with my daughter, please.

i think he is using her for something, and she going to wake up and shake up a whole lot of people around here that didn't believe. >> in a written response the hospital's chief of pediatrics said as medical professionals it's our responsibility to ensure we don't create hope where there is none. when one's brain ceases to function its never restarts. the family has asked the hospital not to comment about jahi's case. supporters of the 13-year-old plan a march around the hospital monday morning about the same time her family will be back in court. in oakland, abc7 news. >> workers at a trash processing facility discovered a puppy alive and wrapped inside a plastic bag. san francisco animal control officers have nicknamed the poodle gem. gem had a variety of cuts and other injuries before being found on friday. investigators think someone put gem out with their garbage and recycling. >> it was picked up by a recology employee, and more

to 30 million next year. with this work on the bay bridge over, massive crane barge left the bay area today, headed for new york. what is officially known as the left coast lter was taken under the bay bridge. the lift helped build the suspension span on the eastern span. tug boats will drag the barge down the pacific coast, through the panama canal and on to new york, where it will be put to use building a new bridge. >> the wheels on nasa's curiosity rover are showing wear and tear after a year on mars. dents have nearly poked through the wheels' high-grade aluminum. curiosities has traveled three miles but mars' terrain is rough. mission managers may have to reroute the rover to decrease wheel damage. >> how to he brains of these bay area kids hoped them score new bikes in a christmas giveaway.

200 youngsters have new wheels thanks to san francisco firefighters. these young ladies rode off on new bikes in a special party. more than a thousand kids wrote letters in a contest to win bikes. the firefighters' toy program provides gifts for thousands children this year and you can help santa and firefighters help kids by bringing new toys to any fire station in san francisco. many folks gave back today, dropping off food and other items during the st. anthony foundation's curbside drive. volunteers loaded packages from donors cars. some delivered hams. they hope to receive 500 hams in time for christmas, and also need people to donate socks. the goal, 2500 pairs. a note from a little girl

another mild day tomorrow. with the way, tomorrow is a "spare the air" day. so, no burning unless its your only source of heat and this mild pattern is going to hold with us on in through christmas eve and christmas day. it will be chilly, the cold in the north and east bay locations. 30s there. 40s elsewhere, and the water vapor tells the story. all the storm systems being pushed up to the north, thanks to higher pressure that is positioned itself right over california, and young see the jet stream way up there. so the storm track is fading north and this will bring us dry and mild holiday week with up seasonably warm temperatures, heading up to tahoe, going to be unseasonably warm there as well. not any moisture right now to forecast. christmas eve, it will be cold. 21. this is south lake tahoe. and then get ready for lots of sunshine on christmas day. 47 degrees there. of course, cold enough to make
