[ laughter ] wel,, if it's not clear by now, trump still isn't ready to move on fro mthe election but yesterday for the first time, it seemed like he was admitting that biden won trump tweeted, "he won because the election was rigged. yeah, that might be as close to a concession speech as we're gonna get, folks [ laughter ] but it was short lived, 'cause he went on to say, "i concede nothing," and "i won the election." [ laughter ] trump won't give up while the rest of us are like, "dude, we've moved on to netflix shows about chess. [ laughter ] we don't care. [ applause ] we don't care, dude. even though trump's lawsuits keep getting tossed out, it's clear the president's not planning to concede any time soon so you know what we thought we'd do it for him and give us the concession speech that we all deserve take a look. ♪ >> my fellow americans, a short time ago, joe biden beat me in the election and not only did he win, he won by a lot actually. therefore, it is time for me to step aside because let's face it. i wasn't probably on my game and i wasn't going so well and, you know, i'm the only president in history to lose the popular vote twice and to get impeached.

he became my mentor. and a lot of kids out of chicago, a lot of people -- oh, they're adults now, a lot of the people that i work with all came out of that same program. but yeah, they had a free studio >> jimmy: that's wild. >> so i just -- yeah, right. >> jimmy: have you always gone by chance the rapper >> no. so, well, it was -- it actually -- when i was in high school, i used to go by chana. and it was a terrible name so when twitter first game out, this girl that was a friend of mine, made a twitter for me, and she made my name chance the rapper, and i was like, alright, i'm gonna just go with that from here out >> jimmy: no way, i love hearing that >> yeah. do you remember when you wrote your first rap >> well, when i first started out, i was actually making poetry first really i first started out as a dancer, alright. and then fourth grade, we did

this thing called "the young author's project." well, we did it every year, but this year i decided to do a book of poems, and i liked it, and i never written poetry before, but i just, like, i don't know, out of nowhere, i just decided to start doing it, and then soon after that, i fell in love with hip-hop and then i started recording, and when i was probably 14, my cousin had his own studio that i got to go to once or twice and i recorded two songs there and i just, like, always loved it and always was like, "this is going to be my thing. but the first rap i wrote was probably -- i know what it was it was a song called "the black definition." and i do not want to rap it right now. [ laughter ] but, yeah, i've been writing songs for a long time, since i was a kid. >> jimmy: yeah, and was everyone supportive of you growing up, wanting to be a rapper >> i don't know if they were supportive of it but it was understood. it was a thing that people knew

that i rapped, like, since i was a kid. it was just a thing i was into i moved my hands and stuff. i don't know >> jimmy: really? >> i was weird. yeah, my dad actually really - right when i got out of high school, we kind of, like, you know, as parents do when their kids graduate from high school and they don't go to college or get a job, it's kind of like a, you know, friction thing >> jimmy: sure >> yeah, but after we separated for a while, he came -- we got back together, and he really helped, you know, just guide me in terms of the amount of work and focus that i needed to work on it from a business side and he's still doing that to this day but yeah, in the beginning, my dad did not want me to be a rapper [ laughter ] >> jimmy: no it's like telling your parents you want to be a comedian. they'll go, "no. anything but that. no, you can't do that.

"no i want it to sound great if you're in a car. this is perfect for this." i want to talk about some of the other cool things you're doing, in addition to being a talented artist. you're also a very good activist you were named to billboard's 2020 r and b hip-hop power players, in the year of activism congratulations on that. >> thank you, man. >> jimmy: your organization, socialworks, recently launched its warmest winter initiative. what is that >> yeah. so, warmest winter is actually something we have been doing for, this is, i think, our fifth year, and it's basically a series of events that start around november, around right now, and go through the beginning of march and their just like a series of events and initiatives that we do that, you know, target the homeless and sometimes specifically the homeless youth in chicago

and it's -- you know, we do warming centers. there is always this big thing, which we're kind of pivoting this year, called the night at the museum where we have like a huge -- we take over the museum of science and industry, and this year specifically, we added a couple events and kind of pivoted away from some of the, you know, big person events. and we're doing actually a a turkey give away i think it's next weekend. and yeah, we got a bunch of different spots around the city that we're starting to do -- we've actually never taken part in the turkey give a ways. we do a lot of other kind of events. but we're trying to, like, uh, start it early and just give back, because of, you know, just the climate with the pandemic and everything. >> jimmy: dude, never stop, man. i think it's so cool you always -- since day once, you always gave back >> thanks, man. >> jimmy: the turkey give away, if you want information on that, go to >> yeah. >> jimmy: it is very, very cool what you're doing. i love that. give away those turkeys.

a couple stories, we had a a buffet line one night, and the guys were all in line, and the hockey players went to go and stand to larry david, and i guess one of the players was in the front of the line and he walked in the back to be with everybody, and larry caught him and said, "what are you doing? what are you doing?" and he said, "i want to come back to you guys." and he is like, "yeah, but you you're where we all where we want to be so why would you come back here you're where we want to go." and then made a whole thing about and i guess just starting writing it down. we did have something, we were watching curb during quarantine and it was the latest season and he went to a destination wedding and we started sweating we were like, "oh god. what is he going to make fun of what did we do thank god it wasn't us. it was one of our friends they hopped on his charter and didn't offer to pay. that was a big thing for him >> jimmy: yeah, he does that. >> you're on well, you gotta pay. why wouldn't you pay
