literally stuck when the state departments of transportation and public safety closed down interstate 29 from exit 72 south to iowa's border...all due to the blizzard. but when you're in the business of transportation, what happens when your means of transportation are cut off? "what're you doing to wait out the snow? sitting. just sitting? yeah pretty much." said vine. just like craig, phil halverson, said that beyond waiting out the storm, there's not much else they can do. "it's been a long time since i've seen weather like this. i grew up in weather like this in the praries in canada but haven't seen twenty years," says halverson. phil has a live delivery that he already has to pay now even more so when he can't move and the temperatures are below freezing. "we're here picking up baby turkies and they got to get be there too," says items like mail that sensitive, have a get moving again james eubanks says there's not much you can do against

"we run a tight schedule since that's what the post office requires us to do but when the adverse weather hits like this, we really just have to deal with it." lukas the sioux city blizzard received some national attention, as one familiar face from the weather channel was in town reporting on the conditions. meteorlogist jim cantore was downtown reporting alongside ou own weather specialist. when comparing this snow storm to the one recently hitting the east coast, jim had this to say. "there's a lot more wind with this one. i don't really think the east coast storm verified as a blizzard. when you go back and look at the data, there may have been a few spots that verified as blizzard, but i know we didn't in washington, d.c., we did not. this is much much more windier, and i think it's going to verfiy as blizzard by the time we're done" "it isn't one of those situations where i'd want to be out on the road with my family, driving around on the interstate... it is dangerous" the snow totals were so great... it prompted some snow removal specialists to travel clear across the state to help the

lukas: now many of us are used to this sort of weather... but some residents new to the siouxland area aren't. some people who work for c-f industries haven't seen a storm like this before... and their reaction is what you would expect from those who are from the south. joshua arvie and ivan cobb are not accustomed to iowa winters... and say the winter weather is the worst they've seen since moving to the hawk eye state. "this is my first time out today, just to kind of see what it's like out here. i was was going to go run and check the mail and uh it's a mix between crazy and amazing, i'm from louisiana so this is my first time seeing something like this and uh it's a sight for sure," says arvie. "it's pretty much...it's like a freezing cold hurricane in the south," says cobb. ivan and joshua say they have no plans of leaving their homes, at least until the weather and roads clear up. the snow prompted kent countryman from davenport iowa, to drive seven hours to sioux

snow removal services to one local landscaping company to clean up sioux city parking lots and driveways. kent says the dry spell of snow storms in eastern iowa pushed him to bring his company to siouxland. "it's a blizzard. i've been through...i've been in the snow business myself for 35 years so i've been through a few blizzards before and it's one of things that you just have to continually, continually, contiually go at," said countryman. kent says his crews worked hard all day yesterday... and it feels as if they haven't even put a dent into the snow. lukas: snow's not not high on the list of things that make people happy. but one man from johnston iowa says he's been waiting for messy conditions just like the one we are facing right now. reporter nikki davidson explains " mason rumpf has learned one thing in his 22 years ... winter is a bit easier... with a furry hat. i don't like being cold, but you gotta do what you gotta do. and this season... theres something new thats keeping him warm... (wheels move) no one ever thought possible. he likes being usefull, he likes to work. he's lived with cerebal palsey all his life... but it wasn't until this year... that all it takes is a couple flips of a switch... (creaking chair) a little patience... and a guy paralyzed from the chest down... is off. (taking off) hes happy to see snow in the forecast, the more the better. taking out driveways (plow scrape) and sidewalks (snow pushing) in just minutes. it's a chore for most people... (snow crunch) but for mason.. its the purpose thats fun. 4:43:06 its really great, i'll help a lot of friends out. but he can't deny... the time he gets zipping through the snow... also makes him do this (laugh) 7:58:27 if there was one person who would try to find a way to be more active, it'd be mason. so it may not be popular opinion... but hes hoping for a few more chances to see this (snow crowding)... before spring hits... 4:22:12 it was a fun day.

jessica rae scott: lukas: two candidates got a big push after iowans voiced their opinions at their caucus precincts on monday hillary clinton and ted cruz got the nod from a majority of caucus goers cruz has been gaining momentum in the past month, leading in several polls besting the second place donald trump by three percent the clinton campaign winning by a very narrow margin winning by just two tenths of a percentage point. clinton reacted to her win while campaigning in new hampshire " (hillary clinton/(d) presidential candidate) "well, as you recall, my luck was not that good

" (sen. bernie sanders, (d) presidential campaign) if we win here in new hampshire after a great showing in iowa we're going to do well in nevada and south carolina. together not only are we going to win this election but more importantly we are going to transform our great country. " the third place winner in iowa declaring victory. (sen. marco rubio/(r) presidential candidate) "we could sense our energy in iowa growing." marco rubio's bronze finish is garnering nearly as much buzz as a frontrunner, as he looks towards the granite state primary next week. (sen. marco rubio/(r) presidential candidate) "we had a great time in iowa and a great turnout, and now we are ready to do it here in new hampshire." rubio's new hampshire goal is to edge out chris christie, john kasich and jeb bush here ... ... to consolidate fractured support and dollars from mainstream republicans around him. other candidates pouring everything into new hampshire are not pleased. ( gov. chris christie/(r) presidential ndidate) "when senator rubio gets here ... when the boy in the bubble gets here, i hope you guys ask him some questions. because it's time for him to

to stay this race is over?" rubio's strong iowa showing appears to have helped cruz with his big victory ... ... because rubio siphoned votes from donald trump, who came in second. we asked cruz about that backstage in iowa, just moments after he declared victory. ( dana bash/reporting) "have you already sent marco rubio a bouquet of flowers, taking donald trump's votes away? i mean, that was a help to you, right?" ( sen. ted cruz/(r) presidential candidate) "well, listen. i recognize that folks may want to talk about the third- place finisher and that's fine. you can talk about that. i'm focused on our victory tonight. i'm focused on our victory tonight and the fact that courageous conservatives across iowa, all across the country generated the most votes ever given to any republican victor in a republican primary." cruz is focused on rubio, slamming him today for working with democrats on immigration. (sen. ted cruz/(r) presidential candidate) "it was marco in the foxhole with harry reid and chuck schumer shooting at us." but beyond new mpshire, rubio sources say they hope to cement his status in south carolina, where he just got a big boost from the state's popular republican senator, tim scott. ( sen. tim scott/(r) south carolina) "i'm putting my confidence and my

because i believe that he takes us to that better future." no matter what, rubio will still have to contend with donana trump, ahead in most new hampshire polls by double digits. but that was before the man so successful at selling himself as a winnerailed to take that title in iowa. lukas: donald trump is dwelling to much on his loss here in iowa... already looking towards the new hampshire primaries. and that's where he spent his day yesterday... holding a rally in milford. analysts say one of the reasons he may have lost the caucus was due to skipping out on the last debate on fox news... but the businessman says he has no regrets over his decision. " (donald trump/(r) presidential candidate) if i had to do it again i would do the exact same thing and you know why? because i raised $6 million for the vets in one hour. so if i took a 2nd place over 1st place and could give the vets $6 million i would do that all day long. the donald is polling well in new hahashire...
