Joe Orrach’s talk, a story-telling performance, illustrates how he uses drama and dance to help students, as young as fifth grade, to connect with their unique voice. His lessons, which can involve the use of boxing gloves and jump rope to engage disaffected students and ex-gang members with Shakespeare, body movement and rhythm to help teach the science of evolution. Orrach runs the Joe Orrach Performance Project, a nonprofit promoting dance, theater and education.
