am here with juan and eric and melissa and this is "the five," at 5 o'clock in new york city. >> welcome to our special "sunday live," of "the five," two days before the most crucial election day yet, super tuesday. will that be the day hillary clinton looks up the democratic race? more on that in a moment. first, to the gone showdown, donald trump is about to hold a rally in alabama and ted cruz will hold one shortly in oklahoma. we are keeping a close eye on that. marco rubio will hold an event in virginia and he and cruz have declared all out war on the
frontrunner in an 111th hour attempt to derail the presidential bid. >> i believe a first-rate con artist is on the verge of taking over the party of lincoln and abe brand. he will not make america great but broke like the four companies. >> 65% of republican primary voters do not think donald trump is the right candidate to go though head with hillary clinton, he agrees with her on too many and he is too vulnerable. >> donald trump fought we fire by fire. >> i calm him little marco, but you know, that is what he is, but he is a nasty guy as is ted cruz, they are nasty and they team up shaking hands before the thing, let's go and their establishment guys no matter how you cut it. >> now he said, a gang of two, a gang of two against the man of one. how do you see this eric? >> all of them have upped the
rhetoric and going at each other down to three we can declare that. >> don't forget gilmore. >> did he ever leave? >> anyway, so we have 12 races that will be decided, 11 states and one territory if i am not mistaken, 600 delegates and donald trump is leading in every single one of the states with the exexception of texas which is 155 delegates and i am pretty sure you need to get at least 50% of vote in texas to be substantially weighted to ted cruz. right now ted cruz is up by nine but alabama, donald trump is in alabama speaking in a few minute, 36-19 rubio. in., 40-22 to marco rubio. on and on and on and on. if he walk out of super tuesday with 40 or 50% of the delegates, march 15, two weeks later is
winner-take-all most the states and it could literally be the end of the road. again, i have said this: momentum and time. momentum is on the side of trump. one of the other two has to drop and my dress is ted cruz would have to drop out to be the alternate to donald trump so they can call the nontrump vote...guys...that will happen soon. >> i think it should happen today. but it will not happen. if you get through super tuesday with wins for trump, another thought: the polls have been amazingly accurate with the exception of iowa, the first one, after that every single poll was hit to the number. trump is polling, gaining the vote he was polling going into the primaries and if this happen s again, count the delegates... >> greg, it is getting nasty back-and-forth and mocking each
other. >> it is terrible. sunday is the lord's day and it is death race, we are not seeing debate over deliverance. no one has a pretty mouth. we have been for the longest time we have been diluting donald trumponing blunt. we laugh. it is funny. why not afford the same houror for the others? it is too lame for them, perhaps, but they are finally doing what they should be doing and more importa, why are we leading with this when the oscars tonight? you called out a red carpet but it is a white carpet. >> i have never been this. is that right? >> maybe it is because chris rock is hosting. racist. >> welcome to the table, melissa. i will ignore those two. >> a it is sunday! >> more on "the prevalent --
"the revenant." >> i do not wish for returning, this country is a mess and people and the candidates are reflecting what a disaster it is right now and there is the mice get together and say, wait, a great idea to hang a bell around the neck of 9 cat and no one wants to do it because every mouse is eating unless they charge at once so they go at trump one by one and they have been eating and it does not look like it will get better. >> do you advocate eating cats? >> mice. mice. mice. mice. mice. the appetizers. >> you talk about the anger and the overall discontent in the country with politics as usual and trump focused on that, reflecting on why he is resonating with so many people because of the anger that men republicans feel.
>> i a not representing myself but representing a lost anger out there and we are angry at 9 way the country is run and a lot of them are angry at the way the republican party is being run. >> what do you think of the use of term "anger," and focusing specifically a republican, the republicans are angry? >> there is no question he is right, a lot anger. the angle he is ignoring he plays to at the love the fears. he escalateing the fear among republicans by playing to the issues from immigrants and i could go on, even throwing power and influence of american women. for me the news here, i agree with melissa, when they are going back-and-forth and playing the dozens and calling each other names and little marco and this guy has a spray can and all the rest and he is a nasty guy and a liar, you see the
republicans hurting themself concern it comes to the general election. it looks like a party that is dysfunctional. they are breaking apart. >> the most important engine behind success is critical thing ing. if a candidate does not go after each other you can bet that hillary clinton is compiling everything together to go after whether it is trump or rubio or cruz. an certificate not reason but an emotion. this looks like a fight between two but not the lincoln-dougless debate. but it will be helpful. >> i don't think hillary clinton would call him little marco and suggesting the other guy is a liar. >> here is how it is helpful. >> in iowa, saw the turnout, saw the turnout in nevada and south carolina, we are breaking records on the g.o.p. side for time out. that is how it is helpful.
>> you took my point and flipped it to the other side. i was not saying republicans are hurting themselves but it reflects how people who are not the intellectual elite, not the political elite, not sitting inside television studios and this is how real people feel and it is refreshing to hear the name-calling because they are sick of how it is run and the country is a mess, they think, like someone is waking up. >> it is entertaining. it captured my attention and i am a democrat, and it captured my attention. it is great tv. >> before primary and before a caucus you said this is really entertaining and they will come out and watch him and wait and listen to him an hour and they will go home but they will not vote. >> that was the question. they did vote. that was a legitimate question. >> what he is saying is resonating and good for the party to have a lot of people
voting. >> you are missing the key point. that is a question that republicans were asking: will trump supporters who enjoy his name-calling, will they vote? they have. but going forward, how do independents and democrats react? in fact, they are going to react, my gosh, it is trump, we have to save the country. they will come out in larger numbers and a lot of women working antagonized by the name-calling. he will not win in the general election. >> i give you that. >> you are assuming that woman don't have the stomach. we do. we want change. we want someone who will do something. >> i am talking about bullying and name-calling. >> we want someone who will make positive changes. >> everyone does but bullying and name-calling is unattractive. >> women are showing up to vote. and john kasich revealing when he may drop out as he makes a
stunning admission about super tuesday. >> it is critical for thin who is left in the race to be able to win their own home state. if you can't win your own home state you feed to get out. we go to ohio. i will win ohio. if i don't i will call it over. donald trump will probably win all of them but you keep holding your own and we have our campaign plan. >> what is that will set can pain plan? >> for kasich, obviously at the debate while everyone was taking off their gloves he put on a prom dress. i don't know what was going on but he said i will stay out of this, like contribution chris when he took out rubio's legs and then he endorsed donald trump. how weird was that, where trump crossed chris christie out for endormant and tells christie to get on a plane. you can go now, get away, treating him like hired help. >> he did another hour on same after that. it was true.
i was like, what happened to christie? and trump goes back, mean joy the crowd for an hour. >> had to watch it live. >> christie was the opening act and donald trump is the main liner, and he is like, you got do go. can't stay. >> it was brilliant strategy because the debate happened and people said, was marco rubio nailing him and you felt the shift and chris christie shut the door on that with that christie thing, and donald trump is endorseed by chris christie and could be endorsed by a senator in a few minutes, and there is christie right now, so it was smart. 9 news cycle was going back to rubio and he said i got this. very good timing. thank you is video of the crucial momentum shutting the door when he came out, i. support him, and someone who had all of the support. [ inaudible ]
>> but christie has his term up in 18 so he cannot run again so he is looking for a job. >> no, no, no, he is still getting revenge on marco rubio. politics always look for the grudge. >> not about building bridges, only blocking them. >> i was saying in politics, pay back is -- i will stop there. >> if you have an itch we will scratch it because we have much more to come on this special sunday "the five," including hillary clinton south carolina blow out, a review of the oscars and more.

>> on friday when donald trump found he was endorsed by david duke he said he disavowed it and today, this. >> i don't know anything about david duke. i don't know anything about what you are talking about with white supremacy so i don't know...did he endorse me? what is going on? >> there are groups and victims endorsing you, without say you condemn them and don't want their support? >> i have to look at group. i don't know what group you are talking about. you would not want me to condemn a group i know nothing about. >> opponents pounced.
>> he knows exactly who david duke is. he was asked this morning two times, will you repudiate and condemn the kkk. he refused to do that, as well. >> we cannot be a party that nominates someone who refuses to condemn white supremacists and the ku klux klan. >> donald trump refused to disassociate himself and condemn white supremacists. each day it is another thing. yesterday i listened to the -- that is horrific, right? >> ted cruz tweeted out, really sad donald trump you are better than that, we should all agree ratism is wrong and kkk is abhorrent. your thoughts on the back-and-forth? >> i researched and trump's special cereal is special kkk. >> thee this the day before in a press conference and --. >> live.
>> and he had negative things to say about duke 15 years ago but i don't necessarily remember someone not remembering that but trump has a great memory. this is a parallel to president obama, i cannot remember which election, the reelection or the first election, the new black panther hanging out at polling stations and we at "the five," were outraged and people were there saying this is horrible, president obama should do something about it but it was not his fault he has crazy followers, so, if you are -- if you say that about president obama you got to say it about trump. he may not be responsible for this. there are people that think maybe he does not want to alien ail the fan base that are white nativists. i don't see trump as a bigot. i don't see it. >> there is no there, there, just them trying to get some points is do what they can but this is politics. get something like that you will
ride the horse all the way to the barn. that is what they are trying to do. i don't know he is a racist or a bigot or supports the kkk or david duke. he said david duke, okay, he endorsed me i was not aware. i disavow, next question. >> there is work to be done, super tuesday for a reason and that is why we are here now going wall to wall. a lot to cover as far as states coming up and who will take this. it is everything at stake. >> this is too big, race in america especially now before the southern primaries i don't think he can use that behavior. >> what kind? >> you close your eyes and say you don't want me to disavow someone i don't know about. >> but he did. >> but you are talking about something a while back. >> open friday. >> we did not produce --. >> in this moment --. >> disavowed in a moment.
>> ahead of the primary it is convenient not to disavow and i tell you what bothers me. >> on friday --. >> juan, you are --. >> i will say something. when you use this kind of wording it has particular power because so much of the anger that donald trump is talking about give voice to is really anger and a white populist movement and they are angry about a lot of things. he talks about immigrants in a way, muslims in such a way and i don't think you would say any of them, donald trump doesn't have any kind of --. >> but at the speech on friday they surprise him with it and he off the cuff the answer was, david duke, i disavow that and now he is badgered repeatedly on the same front. at going of the interview he said i don't support david duke, no, no, no, and they kept asking until he said something that could be used, well, i don't know what group he is with now. >> he should, like with obama
you are not responsible for the weird owes that like you but if there are vocal weird owes that obviously are part of a movement, you have to say, especially if you are moving to the john election and you want everyone else to be comfortable, because you are unknown quantity and you want to be none you have to say, i disavow all bigotry and racism. these people are notes. they make me sick to my stomach and go away. >> move on. >> blow out for hillary clinton in south carolina and a huge spring board for her as the race goes nationwide. it is important. super tuesday, and bernie sanders' last stand. that is next. [bassist] two late nights in tucson.
blew an amp.but good nights. sure, music's why we do this, but it's still our business. we spend days booking gigs, then we've gotta put in the miles to get there. but it's not without its perks. like seeing our album sales go through the roof enough to finally start paying meg's little brother- i mean, our new tour manager-with real, actual money. we run on quickbooks.that's how we own it.
>> hillary clinton obliterated bernie sanders in south carolina brother ming her into super tuesday with a wave of momentum and it could be impossible for bernie sanders to surround. he accepted defeat in south carolina but predicts big wins in other states. >> we goes decimatessed george, decimated. the only thing is we won the 29 years of age and younger vote and that was good but we got killed. i'm in minnesota now and we think we will do very well in minute machine on super tuesday, colorado we will do well, oklahoma we will do well, we will win in massachusetts and i plaintiff we will win in vermont and do better than people think in other states. >> hillary clinton appears to be moving on from bernie sanders and setting sights on the good who could lockup the republican nomination.: despite what you
hear we don't need to make america great again america has atmosphere stop being great but we need to make america whole again. instead of building walls, we need to be tearing down barriers . we need to show by everything we do we are in this together. >> it is unbelievable but it looks to me going into the super tuesday that there is not much in the south that would indicate bernie sanders will breakthrough or hold hillary clinton back as we go crass. >> here is the problem in your party: those are paid for already. the bag with the cash is taken care of. she is bought all the super delegates, bernie sanders will get cheated out of this and that is what is happening. >> wait, wait, wait, you think the african machines voting in south carolina were bought? >> i did not say that, you are trying to like get a soundbite. >> what are you saying?
>> i said nothing about african-americans. >> i saiding in about them being paid off. don't put words in my mouth. >> who is it? >> i am telling you this whole caucus the way it want down that bernie sanders is the one of the candidates that has the momentum people are enthused about not someone with the worst credibility lying rating in the history of candidates like hillary clinton and this is bought and paid for and it is done. she has all of the super delegates, so this is just sort of like invisible ride on the stationery bicycle she is the nominee. >> that is a point, the delegate count is overwhelmingly in favor of hillary clinton. do the math. it is done. >> thank you. >> put that she did so well inning is second which she did with the african american vote. >> that was expected.
>> heavy african-american vote but it is over. she has it. it is locked up. >> what a likable guy but -- the. >> he would be great on "the five." >> cranky, cranky. >> no, no, an older version of greg. >> the point that kimberly was making is good, because if i were a democrat i would be so mad and feel so cheated if i voted in the primary my vote did not count for anything all the college students she had the super delegates locked up ahead of time, we heard that and we knew it. there was never a race to begin with and this was never an election. it is like vladimir putin running to for president of russia. >> she won south carolina and nevada and iowa so...what are you saying? >> it would not matter. >> she was up by 600 delegates. >> do you get that? basic math. >> she lost one and almost tied
two so she -- the vote count was so close but she had 600-73. >> the coin toss, she won every when. >> deck of cards. >> what is interesting is bernie sanders said it is not over. he said he is going up to minnesota. >> it may not be over because she could lock it up on tuesday but she could be locked up next month and will get to know inmates while bill gets do know playmates. the republican nominees, potential nominee has that reagan and abraham lincoln and thomas jefferson doesn't have, hillary clinton as on opponent she is less liked than smog, termite and maroon 5. she has the gall to tack about making america hole when she has campaigned only on division and putting one group against the other and acts like she will bring everyone together, the only way she can bring people together and on the universal
>> we are 48 hours from the biggest day of the election season: super tuesday with donald trump holding a rally in madison, alabama. and carl cameron is there. is it a kinder donald trump today? or not so much? >> he is just getting started. he is talking right now about the former president of mexico fox who said he wasn't going to
using bat word to describe the law, and he said there are 30,000 people at the rally and got the endorsement of jeff sessions senior sent from alabama who helped with immigration views and staffers of sessions are participating. we we are given to believe that is what the announcement 8 be. he had a rough start with a lot of issues with questions of whether he was going to disavow and denounce david duke the former grand wizard of the kkk and the rivals, marco rubio and ted cruz have pounded him all day but the name-calling is a three way fight. it was one sided when donald trump was throwing the punches and now he confirmed the help dormant of sessions and now marco rubio and ted cruz are pounding him with the same type
of insults, looks, fashion, face, his hair, and his character and integrity. it has been rough day for all of us. >> we are waiting on that and we heard that sessions could endorse donald trump but it is helping, and trump has 36-19-point lead, over marco rubio in alabama. what about texas? what is the feeling on texas? where does he think he is? >> he recognizes that ted cruz is the senator from texas has home field advantage. mr. sessions is with him on stage and it is another place where trump is getting support from washington and saying ted cruz does not have spoor forker from any members of congress or members of the senate, rather, and does it matter? of course. ted cruz has to win texas. trump is prepared to not win it
but in talking to the campaign staff and some aides, they think he will win everything else and that will be a huge, huge thing in the vehicle terrorism the image of the wins but when it comes to delegate count, if trump pulled it off, say, eight or nine wins in the 11 states that are having primaries with binding elections, it puts a cork in it. it would be impossible for marco rubio or john kasich to much can up even if they won their home state, ohio and florida and two weeks on the 15th. >> karl, it is kimberly it looks exciting. listen, i am looking at the after affect of what is going on with the back and forth between marco rubio and trump and it seeps like the person that could be getting the most hurt by this is ted cruz who has sucked the wind out of his campaign and momentum going into super tuesday and it could hurt him in
the states he was trying to put forth the showing. >> it is extrapolated on what we are talking about if ted cruz wins whom state of toes next donald trump wins the rest, it is not a good day for ted cruz having won the home state and nothing else. there is no momentum in that and trump will dominate the coverage. both marco rubio and cruz demonstrated in the debate a few nights ago standing on either side of donald trump they are capable of making an alliance and tag teaming donald trump which has been go on pretty much every day since and trump has been saying things about marco rubio saying he has big ears and calling him little marco and things like that and rubio has now begun throwing things back at home say he has a special spray an and sue whoever did that. this is not that political but it is very personal and they are trying to tear each other down on that level. it could entertain the voters but it will not inform them.
>> we saw sessions "maker america great," the signature red hat. >> karl, it is so interesting --. >> jeff sessions --. >> this endorsement of sessions, again, sessions is viewed as an establishment figure by most republicans in washington as chris christie but here they are going with trump even as other elements much the republican establishment now are throwing endorsements at marco rubio but looking for an alternate to trump. what is behind the sessions endorsement. >> sessions is the most staunch immigration reform critics, the comprehensive immigration reform that marco rubio and others have been criticized for supporting as am fast. it is something that jeff sessions has been one of the most staunch fighters in the senate. when donald trump was looking to put his immigration plans on paper something he did was very
closely mirror jeff sessions' position. i look at immigration position on his web page there are passages of it that look very much as though they were borrowed from jeff sessions and as i said some of the sessions staffer are working with trump. as the alabama senator has said, donald trump is a guy would has captured the imagination of what he said is 30,000 people here and when he talk about border security they go notes. they love it. >> unlike me you are an actual journalist and we have heard that donald trump talk about opening up the libel laws and i wonder should people who are pro trump in the media, if trump were elected are they electing a second boss? >> well...no.
we are not electing a boss. it is interesting to note that trump likes to say he is the best deal maker and likes to make deals. but he litigates, he sue as lot. some of the deals are derived from lawsuits. whether it is libel or slander or calling everyone a lying liar would lies it does not seem like a particularly sophisticated posture to take and if he wants to get permission to sue that sounds like a trial lawyer not a billionaire businessman who said he can fix the country. >> thank you, karl.
