we're all in a deep crunch. 8:00 p.m. tonight. you don't get it ch. hello everyone. i'm kimberly along with bob, greg, dana. this is the five. president barack obama s the website prevented too many americans from competing the enrollment process. that's on us. i'll have to win
back credibility. that's on me. that's on us. that's on me. not on them, on us. this one is deserved. it's on us. >> after years of lying about his signature health care law and weeks after it launched disastrous result, those words
you heard are president barack obama and for a good reason. a fox poll shows most americans thinks the president knowly lied to get the obama care passed. not a good place to be. today he offered a solution to stop the bleeding and attempt to salvage a legacy. >> people that have plans predating the affordable care act can keep those plans if they haven't changed. today we're going to extend both to people who's plans have changed since the law
took effect and people who bought plans since the law took effect. >> ask yourself, can we really take president barack obama seriously? it's been six weeks since the law's failed launch. the question remain, how did we get here? we shouldn't be asking obama because he doesn't know. >> i was not informed correctly the website would not be working the way it's supposed to. had i been informed i wouldn't
have been going out saying this is great. there's going to be evaluation of how we got to this point. i assure you i've been asking a lot of questions about that. >> the buck stops where? >> i outline had the exact phrase your last sound bite. president barack obama started saying i was not informed directly the way it was working. the deny blt crap has got to stop. he's got to stop saying i didn't know about it. it's your signature legislation. you've got to know everything about it before it goes, during and after. if president barack obama was ceo obama and obama care was obama care inc.that stuff in a board room wouldn't fly. they would drag him right out of there. the fact is he's not. he's our president not ceo. shareholders wouldn't put up with it either.
we've got to. i don't know doesn't fly. >> quiz with plausible denying. >> dana what's the next step. >> i thought today was many days late and many short. whether he's allowed to do this outside of congress. it's shaking foundation in terms of substance. already you had a washington state commissioner saying they're not going to allow insurance companies to go back and reissue a cancelled plan. they have a state by state problem. if the economics didn't work in 2013, the laws are not going to change in 2014. the uncertainty in the economy already anemic is going to continue. the president, today looked very weak in front of the world. >> so greg you have thoughts on this? >> yes, i do kimberly. first off i say he's flying by the seat of his pants but not
wearing pants. this is buck naked. the other thing too, i thought only congress could change laws. but maybe obama slept through more government classes than i did. i think this is most interesting. he believes insurance companies can restore the policies. i have no idea how their going to do that. if you can't design a website, how can you rebuild something you destroyed. the white house is like a meth head that overnight took apart the toaster and woke up and said who took apart the toaster? >> i'm not saying the white house is on meth. >> through all the idealology bob, no one is a bigger
supporter of the party. talk us through the politics. >> officially it got compact in the democratic party. we'll see whether that holds or not. so far it is holding. two, from obama standpoint he has to consider the fact he has no major piece of legislation left. i think immigration reform is dead. it's virtually impossible to come through this and give yourself momentum unless you find something to get republicans to wrap around. i think it's an outside shop. it's going to be tough. the most important thing facing obama is what happens in the 2014 non presidential election year elections. that is going to be a very important thing because not only is the senate at stake, but your going to have a difficult time getting enough house votes to look plausibly down the road. >> how long have you felt like that? this morning when i woke up, i
thought high hopes immigration, forget about it. you just commented. >> you were not there. >> he can read my mind apparently from the other end of the table. >> that's honest assessment. at this moment in time, that has no lay. when you see flashing across all the different states and policies cancelled, cancelled, cancelled. how do you get out of that? >> the white house on meth was pretty funny. they're not rebuilding insurance plans. it's up to the insurance companies. whether they can or will, i don't know. my guess is it's a long shot. when you're in trouble like this politically, you've got to take the best shot you've got. the best shot is dealing with you can keep your policy which was the thing that caused the political disruption. i just don't know. >> how do you do it eric?
>> this is comical. insurance companies aren't go to do this. a lot cancelled plans not because they didn't meet obama care standard, they were able to cancel them. they didn't have to, didn't want to. they're not going to do it anymore. here's our opportunity to move on and maybe sell customers to a higher level of insurance. bob, let me tell you something, that's what business is all about. making the best for your shareholders. if you're selling something you're losing money on, stop selling it. sometimes you sell because you're supposed to. when the obama administration says you don't have to, then you cancel. >> it was $5 million, soon 10 million. they're not signing anybody up. we're going to continue to show 100,000 signed up or fewer and 5
million, 200,000. >> how many people have their own plans? >> 42 million. >> there's 300 million people in the country. 15% is 45 million ball park. >> that's too much math for me. we're going to the pink and black end of the table. pink shirt, you're up. >> you know, i can't believe no one has pointed out how racist president barack obama is. remember if you questioned or tried to change any part of obama care you were a racist. i remember that is what msnbc was saying a good two weeks. the only air bag in the car is obama and didn't go off. it's a failure hang on him. the media and democrats refuse
to tell obama that obama care was a horrible, horrible death trap. it'slike telling a parent you have an ugly kid. >> what did you tell people when they asked why you bought that shirt? >> it's nice. what's wrong with the combination? >> i was picking up on kimberly. >> i want to bring something. dana comment on this. the president is trying to massage the situation. i don't think it's possible. he's got to try and do something. that's what bob is saying. the president is standing before us, half naked, what greg is saying. he's not a perfect man. >> i said early on when running i am not a perfect man and will not be a perfect president. that pledge i haven't broken.
that commitment and promise continues to hold. the promise that i wouldn't be perfect. >> how charming. >> the first promise he's kept. >> give him credit for that. that's a funny line. at a time like this, he needs some levity. if he has to deal with this everyday, it has nothing to do or laugh about. he's in a straight jacket before you know it. >> it would be nice if he cared at all for what he's responsible. the magazine today, the story came out about feelings that the cabinet has about being sidelined and margin xized by president barack obama . he told the team not to bring the problems to him. i understand he doesn't want small ball stuff. i don't understand how he's not more embarrassed or nobody more mad than he is about not being
told the law was you going to work. i found out they brought 48 hours. i don't think the democrats will hold. the policy can't hold up. logically economically, it's not good enough. there's no plan beyond sunday. >> you're not suggesting he doesn't care about the idea of everybody getting health care? >> no. i'm not saying that. from a management standpoint as the leader of the country, a decision maker of the country, he is so uninterested or has the staff so scared they can't go to him and tell him things are bad. information flow and management at the white house at this time is at a low point. >> what i was going to say, that's the point of them being terrified to actually go up and say anything to him. which is part of what they use against republicans and conservatives that you're racist if you did something like that. i don't think anybody should be interested in saving obama care.
they should be interested in saving america from obama care. is it a coincidence the lay goes up to the midterms? i don't think that should happen. they should pay the price brutally. >> the sad part about anything else, the idea that some how before obama care, the good old days of health care in the country was fall ago part. people were losing health care all the time. >> you're right. >> now it's worse. >> if anyone else had done that, they would be fired if they didn't tell the boss something was you miserable. >> accountability. >> the reason people aren't signing up, there's glitches. listen to this. if two people middle income making $62,000, two incomes. when you make the extra dollar. $6241 you go to $11,000 premium. it doubles by making one extra dollar unless you get divorced.
these things are examples through and through the obama care law. wait until you start -- no one is going to sign up. >> perfect opportunity to pull out of this block. next, has obama care doomed democrats for next year's election? how much will the gop capitalize on the disaster? big news for fifty shades of grey fans. some people are upset again. i'll tell you why. [ fishing rod casting line, marching band playing ]
democrats could be held accountable for mid term elections. today president tried to save them. >> there's no doubt that our failure to roll out the ach smoothly has put a burden on democrats. whether running or not. they stood up you and supported this effort. i feel deeply responsible for making it harder for them rather than easier for them. >> i tell you what greg, if you were not a sleep before that conference, you may have fallen a sleep when he talked you to death. >> he's a human drone. it's incredible. he puts everybody out. he has this invigor rating
speaker but wow. >> who in the republican could come close to him? >> that's true. >> if president barack obama was feeling confident today he would have been dropping g's. >> are you kidding me? steak hands or whatever he was talking about. >> i think ron paul is a good speaker. >> we are off track. >> he's very entertaining and dynamic. have you not seen him speak on multiple occasions? >> for like hours on the floor of the senate. >> eric, can president barack obama do anything to save democrats that the point? >> no honestly. it's right now what that man was you saying don't blame them blame me. buck stops with me. all that crap. when they go to the polling booth in a year, they're going to blame democrats. they are the ones that push if you're a republican pushing. remember she said that. president barack obama did the speech today. that website is not fixed any
time soon. that's what that was about. he kind of told the world don't expect this to get fixed and turn around any time soon. stop blaming them. >> they're screwed. >> the sooner they fix the website and figure out it wasn't the website the reason people aren't signing up, it's more about the law than the website. it will be deeper. >> let me ask you bob, can you put on a different hat one second. if you were advising the republicans, for real. what do you think they should do right now since they are sort of at least winning the debate about obama care at the moment? how could they continue to be in that position? >> i think they have to get off the no, no, no position and get onto things that need to get done. >> when? >> soon. this window of opportunity, you talk like it's an absolute done deal. you can't translate this to november of next year.
a lot of things will change. let's not get the election decided in this climate. if i were republicans and instead of saying we told you so, i'd come up with something that had substance to it. so far i haven't seen much. >> they don't need to yet. they need to point out the flaws in the website and roll out. when people realize it, when young people aren't signing up and cost explode, they can point that out. >> let me get kimberly in. democrats have been having record fundraising number across the board even in the middle of this. president barack obama can bring home the bacon when it comes to getting money for democrats to win in 2014. do you think money is actually the best thing president barack obama can provide and he should go away and do a foreign trip? >> clearly cash. he's not delivering sound bites to materials they need to win elections. this is actually mobilizing the base. they're afraid of the eventual
outcome. they see what's happening. headlights are on. they see the train coming. republicans have a unique opportunity. they don't need to overplay their hand. at a certain point it is good in the article today. they have to come up something eventually that's alternative to avoid the pitfall of a single payer system which is exactly what the democrats and liberals want ultimately when this fails completely. >> let me -- we have one minute. i'm not going to play the sound bite from john mccain that said republicans need to stand out and let democrats figure this out. i'm a worrier. do you worry the democrats are going to blow it? the future of the republican party is being created by president barack obama now. the people getting screwed over are young people that just saw their few which our foreclosure to a confidence man. they're hoping for change obama
crushed with the wealth spreading machine. republicans have got to be there. no more witch, no more creep, no more quacks and candidates that run to get tv shows. got to be people that want to serve the country, are positive, funny, articulate and younger. >> you're asking a lot. >> are you trying to nominate yourself? >> what you said is important. you're talking about republican's benefits. people don'tlike the republican party. the people in the country that decide think they're a bunch of right wingers. without that you would be in a hole. you put up you the worst candidates, right wing koots. >> john mccain said this is the time to repeal the law. this is the man that yelled at ted cruise for shutting down the
government. all ted cruz wanted to do was shut down obama care. we need to stop flip flopping moderates. >> precisely the defund piece not just repeal. i guess you can get to repeal eventually. we didn't. directly ahead after rob lowe takes on big government, sport callers makes surprising calls about football. and a warning for the black community. all that and more when the five returns. the day we rescued riley was a truly amazing day. he was a matted mess in a small cage. so that was our first task, was getting him to wellness. without angie's list, i don't know if we could have found all the services we needed for our riley. from contractors and doctors to dog sitters and landscapers, you can find it all on angie's list. we found riley at the shelter, and found everything he needed

personalities. charles barkley, rob low and bob. let's start with rounds of sounds for charles barkley. >> i always tell my wife, y'all ain't got nothing to worry about. more black people are full of it than white people. blacks going to destroy themselves. black on black crime is the biggest problem in the country. none of the black leaders talk about it until the white guy kills the black guy which is absurd in my opinion. >> greg, you want to taik this? >> i love charles barkley. 50% of him is great. 50% of him is garbage. take the good with the garbage. it's refreshing to hear a celebrity talk about black on black crime who isn't on fox news. it's somewhere else doing it. it would be nice to see that happen among black politics. unfortunately it doesn't. i think he said more about black crime than president barack
obama did in five years. >> i was going to say i agree with that. the first half of what barkley said is absolutely ridiculous. not enough intelligent blacks? that's absurd. the part about black on black crime, that will resignate more than anything i've heard in years. he's exactly right. he's sending messages to al sharptons and jesse jacksons of the world. if they said this, it would have a big impact on people. >> i think honesty and kander is refreshing. i like the eyebrows. >> i didn't notice the eyebrows. i'm going to check. >> a few years ago he was thinking about running for office. i think he should. >> i don't think he can. not after the incident when he was pulled over. >> everybody has something now. >> he's got history. >> he's honest as the day is long. he didn't hide anything.
>> there are senators that made up a bunch of stories. they sailed into office. >> that's true. listen to rob low raising eyebrows getting conservative on. >> my own world view is that the individual needs to be more responsible for their own lives and that's not the conversation we're having right now for whatever reason. >> so you know what goes on during the sound bites when you can't here. dana and kimberly think he's hot. >> very cute. >> i don't know what he's saying. i'm just looking at him. he's so cute. >> we totally agree. >> i like him. >> all the girls like him. i've met him in person. he's very nice, wife is very nice. great guy, good family. >> what about the comment about having personal responsibility? >> i'm all for personal responsibility.
i believe in justice immediately. >> give me a break. >> i don't think he's saying that. overpaid -- are you kidding me? he doesn't have a clue what it's like to be middle class or poor. >> why didn't you say anything about charles barkley. that's the same thing. >> adam kutcher, what's his name? ashton kutcher. he said something about the a wards and said the same thing couple of weeks ago. >> he had a rough life. chad lowe is the real star of the family. this guy is pushing 50. you know why you like him? he's got feminine qualities. women are attracted to omen --
to men with feminine facial features. >> bob costas says this. i tell them no. i tell them no. i know that goes viral tomorrow. if it was my son and had reasonable athletic ability i'd encourage him to play baseball soccer or anything other than football. >> he says he would encourage his kid not to play. >> he was talking about in the controversy going on with the miami dolphins. i agree with this. i told my son not to play the game. it's a painful very difficult very dangerous game. if you want to do it, go do it. it's a wonderful game from my standpoint as well. i'd rather my son play soccer. >> your son playing golf. >> i have a bigger problem with
sports casters becoming so concern informed fretful. sports writers and casters are are rude, chomping, womanizers. they've turned from oscar madison to glad dis. >> oscar meyer weaner. >> that's pretty good. going viral, i hate that. here's an option. don't play any sport. play a musical instrument because that goes so much further these days. if you learn to play drums or guitar, women love you. it's a wonderful skill. teaches you discipline. why are we taking advice from a guy that probably never played a sport in his life? he's like this big. >> i think he's auditioning to take baldwin's show. i don't understand. right? >> i like him. i like when he goes to olympics and introduces you to people in the interviews. he's great.
>> he's a decent guy that raises issues. >> bob, you want to go to the olympics with him. you told us. >> he has enough russians coming to his place. very good. >> you mean this bob? >> next, is it a sin if you don't believe in global warming? one says so. and baldwin just got convicted. how did he celebrate? chasing down another photographer and as usual profanity ensued. we've got the tape coming your way.

after every major natural disaster you bet some nut cake will blame it on anything but nature. ghouls like al gore blames it on man. that's how he pays alimony. now the tragedy in the philippines is blamed on use of fossil fuels. dead aren't even buried yet. the moral evil of climate change denial that is. those that continue deny in the face of mounting evident that clie vooi lent climate change is upon us and accelerating. it's foolish to expect science from crazy. she's so nutty she qualifies as a snickers bar. her assumptions are no different than others. hah hah you denied climate change. i hated when evangelists blamed aidss. no misery is too big to fuel your smug satisfaction. the shameful sickness still
exists under aids new religion, one of blind faith and flat earth hysteria in light of useful facts. congratulations on cements your incorrect assumptions. grieving families are so happy to a oblige. >> don't do it. don't go to bob. >> why do people say such stupid things in light of tragedy? >> everybody knows that. they must be dumb. what i don't like is taking advantage of a situation like this. okay. i think it's just really sick sickening the political opportunityist that jump in to further their cause. they're not thinking about the casualties, lives lost, families
affected. they don't have the science of facts to back up you what they're saying. it's double shame. >> this argument is always dangerous at this table. greg is a thug. >> i'm not a thug. >> these are facts. let's not argue. facts are that philippines, water level is higher than ever recorded when that typhoon hit, one. two, this year in canada at the glaciers when they reseeded so far two islands never uncovered by the glacier, the moss on the plant died from the sun. it was 44,000 years old. it had never seen anything but a glacier. >> where are you getting this from bob? >> it's scientific american. how about that? >> arctic ice melts and raises the water. >> what does this have to do with the typhoon?
>> it becomes more dangerous with higher elevations of water. >> there's been no increase in cyclones or natural disasters since 1900. >> i'm saying at higher water levels whether sandy or cyclones -- >> you're not listening to me. it's false to link this to the ambitions of green house gases. >> ridiculous. >> just gave you the facts from the icc report. there's more arctic ice than in 30 years. >> it increased. >> 44,000 years. >> the u.s. hurricane season, how do you explain that? >> dana, do you have global warming facts you pulled out of your butt? >> global warm as good a perfect excuse to not do anything for people living in the third world. that doesn't do anything to help provide affordable electricity to people living there. they could have had more information to get out of the
harm's way. with more affordable electricity that is steady, you have better education, health care, well being and possibility of trade which will help everybody. what this does for people that are global warming extremists, it basically raised money off of it. >> oh gosh. you're global warming cover up people. >> i worked on the energy and power subcommittee. you don't believe there's global warming? >> i do. i don't think it's man made. here's another thing. if it's man made, it's made by all men. china, brazil, india, are you going to get them to go along with you? >> no. >> that's an excuse not to help people in poverty. >> it's not an excuse to say
global warming doesn't exist. >> nobody at this table said that. >> i'll push back and say the earth goes through warming cy e cycl cycles. every 50 or 60 years this changes. we talked about this before. news week had the imminent ice age coming the last ten years. now it's warming. >> now it's cooling again. >> you are so off. i love you. you're a good friend but so off with is this. the left is not realizing there's no signs. >> who's that idiot -- >> you went away from global warming because it wasn't working. you started calling it climate change. you can refute global warming. that's why they moved off that.
i'll continue our discussion on climate -- i'm sorry. my buddy at the table beat me up over obama care. nothing pleases me more than returning the favor. gop fights, my new favorite sport. started with ted cruz who i support in 2016. now you can add rand paul to the mix for taking shots at chris christie. >> i think his victory was in large form based on that he got a lot of federal money for his state.
unlimited spending you could call it moderate or even liberal to think there's unlimited amount of money for good causes. >> i expect they'll get asked the questions about each other the next couple of years. it sounded like a pretty tough shot. >> maybe. he's right. christie is moderate on the second amendment, immigration and property taxes. don't forget christie fired the first shot. july 25th, christie said as a former prosecutor or whatever, he said i want us to be cautious because this strain of libertarianism is dangerous. libertarianism is not dangerous. that's the way of the future. you better embrace it especially if you expect to get more young people. young people are not moderate. >> i've got to ask you watching this between the republican party, middle and right, it's got to concern you doesn't it?
>> was that like a bizarre sugar high, bob? >> it's pretty mild criticism. it's said in a respectful way. i think the conservatives have such better light to be able to communicate with one other, disagree and at the end of the day vote for each other. >> i think it's great rather than pretend to be open minded. >> didn't work that way the last time. >> i'm jealous of democrats the way the party can walk in lock step in blind believe to a community. that's how they win. >> you're hard hitting today. >> this is what i think. >> what did you say about the demise of the party? >> i don't see demise. i see opportunity, field of dreams. look through my eyes. yoil see it too. i don't think this is bad. >> those are two people. there are more and they are coming. they've got a young bench. got a lot of stars that are
making rounds in speeches. they can't wait for 2014. >> i can't wait. >> what difference does it make? >> i tell you, i've got to say next round is only next week. i guarantee middle and right will take each other on. >> it was going so well, wasn't it?
