House Appropriations Subcommittee Hearing on Female Veterans

Veterans Affairs officials testified on female veterans' health care issues at a House Appropriations subcommittee hearing on Capitol Hill. VA Women's Health Services Chief Consultant Patricia Hayes said the number of women using VA health services has tripled since 2001 and women constitute about 16 percent of today's active duty military forces. Witnesses discussed efforts to enhance services and access for female veterans, military sexual trauma screenings, and mental health and maternity services. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) chaired this subcommittee hearing.
