A two hour radio show with four live concerts, talks and a record release dedicated to the birds with Fritz Bornstück, DJ Schlucht, der Warst, Wilted Woman, Jeff Surak, Amelie Wedel & Enrico Centonze.
All four musicians share an interest in noisemusic, experimental soundcreation and concrete poetry. Expect noises that are a crossover between art, music and talkshow and not yet common in any jukebox. The radio show was broadcasted from the exhibition Feelings of my Thatched Hut at Grimmuseum. Enrico Centonze, director of Grimmuseum, curator Amelie Wedel and some of the exhibited artists were present and part of the talks one could also see some tropical cocktails in the hut in the summerly front garden.
>Simon Schäfer / der Warst (hardware-bending / sculpture) ...will play a live telephone-concert on a custom-built device which looks like a telephone and sounds like power electronics. Schäfer is co-founder of the mono shop, a community space and lab for circuit bending and audio/visual projects.
>Wilted Woman (modular synth / candy crush) ... runs a label called the untergang-institut. She makes electronic music coming from a noise and classic violin background - she developed a music style that can easily fit in a club context but also in an academic seting. Expect radio sounds about radio.
>Jeff Surak (intelligent noise / non entertainment) ... runs a label as well - it's called zeromoon. Jeff is a very well kept secret of a music genre that's been "anti" for the sake of being critical and recording sound on tapes under various names since the early 80s. Surak is the founder of the sonic circuit festival, a festival for avant-garde / experimental music. In the early nineties he moved to Russia to study film and enlarge his network of irrational music composers to the new status quo.
>Fritz Bornstück (brush noise / bird friend) ... is a painter and musician using all sorts of media, from oil paint and pencils to cassettes and sampler apps. This summer, Fritz is self-releasing his first ever record, a 7" inspired by birds. For the radio show, he will present a selection of his bird sounds, which are part of his installation in the group exhibition at Grimmuseum.
