City of Salisbury North Carolina COUNCIL MEETING AGENDA December 6, 2016 - 5:00 p.m. 1. Invocation to be given by Councilmember Miller. 2. Call to order. 3. Pledge of Allegiance. 4. Recognition of visitors present. 5. Council to extend congratulations to Recipients of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine award for 2016. 6. Council to consider the CONSENT AGENDA: (a) Adopt Minutes of the Regular meetings of November 15, 2016 and the Special Meeting of November 18, 2016. (b) Adopt the 2017 schedule of regular Council meeting dates. (c) Award a contract to Weathergard in the amount of $203,400 for the installation of a new roof on the Head Start building located at 1400 West Bank St.
7. Council to receive a presentation from the Community Appearance Commission and the Housing Advocacy Commission regarding the 2016 BlockWork neighborhood improvement project. 8. Council to receive an update from Mr. James Meacham regarding Rowan Convention and Visitors Bureau initiatives. 9. Council to receive an update from Fire Chief Bob Parnell regarding events to celebrate the 200 Year Anniversary of the Fire Department in 2017. 10. Council to consider adopting a Budget ORDINANCE amendment establishing columbaria fees for Memorial Park Cemetery. 11. Council to consider the naming and renaming of streets in the area of the new underpass between South Main Street and Jake Alexander Boulevard. 12. Council to consider adopting an ORDINANCE restricting parking on the west side of the 400 block of Partee Street from Monroe Street to Horah Street. 13. Council to consider making appointments to various boards and commissions. 14. Council to receive public comment. Public comment will be opened at approximately 6:00 p.m. or at the end of the meeting, whichever comes first. 15. City Manager’s Comments. (a) Fibrant Update and consideration of an ORDINANCE amending Appendix F – Fees, Article XI Fibrant of the Code of the City of Salisbury. (b) Other comments. 16. Mayor’s Announcements. (a) Due to the Christmas Holiday, City Council will hold only one meeting in December. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. (b) Salisbury Parks and Recreation will host New Year’s Eve at the Bell Tower Celebration Saturday, December 31, 2016. Celebrate the start of 2017 as a community at Salisbury’s historic Bell Tower located in Bell Tower Park. Festivities begin at 8:00 p.m. and will include light refreshments, live video feed from Times Square and the ringing of the bell at midnight. This event is free and open to the public. 17.
